So my oldest child recently moved to Alaska and has been begging me to come visit her. As much as I miss her, I am out of vacation time for the year, and my vacation funds are running a bit low, too. After talking with her today, I started thinking about a visit in early 2012 and decided that the flights to Alaska were just going to be too expensive. But then she hit me with this knowledge: there’s a ferry from Seattle to Sitka, no problem. Emily and I have both always wanted to go to Seattle, I might get to see Ross while I’m at it…. oh, and Southwest will get me to Seattle for like $150. That’s quite different that that $1200 trip to Juneau!
